20 February. Spanish gathering at Culture club.

DATE FOR YOUR DIARY - WEDNESDAY, 20 FEBRUARY (7.15 onwards)

Dear Friend of the Society,

Despite the cold, wet weather, over 20 people braved the elements to attend the Get Together on Wednesday, January 30. One of the main features of a memorable evening was the number of people of different nationalities who turned up. There were participants from Chile, Venezuela, Mexico, Argentina, The United States, Russia, Japan, Switzerland, England and Hong Kong, all united by a common desire to communicate in the Spanish language! Many thanks to everyone who made the occasion so enjoyable, in particular Karen from the U.S.A, who, when she learnt that the intended speaker was unavailable, stepped in at the last minute and gave a fascinating talk about San Francisco, of course all in Spanish. In fact, she has agreed to give a joint talk with Damaris at the next meeting on the 20th of February, this time with the theme being Venezuela. Thank you so much, the two of you. So, everyone, try to make it - you are all welcome as long as you have a desire to communicate in Spanish at whatever level.

Thanks also go to Lennon, our very kind host, who provided us with delicious snacks "on the house" and a relaxing environment in which to chat. A photo is attached (thanks Tony), as well as a map if you are not sure how to get to CultureClub, the regular venue for our Get Togethers. Extra information is also available on the Society's website, www.hispanica.com.hk/news.php.

Saludos,

Chris Stubbs
